The tree in me

I used to be a tree

Plumb in front of the shadow

Each leaf that falls

Says a goodbye with a sigh

I used to cool you down

Bearing all the heat

And turning it to a shade

Not anymore

I am a rock now

You used to hear me before

In my silence

Not anymore

As the tree in me died long ago

I don’t dream anymore

That you will come again

Who comes to a mere tree?

When fruits & coolness can be found

In the market

The river that is in the heart

Has dried up long ago

Rocks don’t cry

Just waits for its erosion

I used to know that

Not anymore
